XPI Expands to Germany: Enhancing SimulationX Support with a Dedicated Dresden Team

In a strategic move to better serve SimulationX users across Europe, Xcelerated Prototyping Inc. (XPI) has expanded its operations to Germany, opening a new office in Dresden as of June 2025. This expansion builds on XPI's established role as an authorized distributor of SimulationX in North America and positions the company to provide specialized, focused support for this multi-physics system simulation software in the European market.

About XPI and SimulationX

XPI is an engineering firm based in Waterloo, Canada, founded to deliver innovative solutions for businesses designing and manufacturing complex machinery in industries such as automotive, heavy machinery, and aerospace. Our services include modeling, prototyping, digital twins, and software development, with a core focus on accelerating product development processes.

Central to our offerings is SimulationX, a powerful multi-physics system simulation tool from ESI Group (now part of Keysight Technologies). SimulationX enables engineers to model, analyze, and optimize dynamic, nonlinear systems across domains like mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, and thermal management. By leveraging 1D modeling, it supports early design validation, reducing the need for physical prototypes and allowing for transparent, efficient iterations. This shifts traditional build-test-modify cycles to virtual environments, significantly shortening development time—particularly for powertrain design, control systems, and multi-body dynamics. For instance, it facilitates Model-in-the-Loop (MiL) testing for control unit software, enabling the development, testing, and optimization of controllers in a simulated setting. SimulationX also integrates with standards like the Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI), making it easier to incorporate into broader systems engineering workflows, from requirements analysis to final verification.

Drivers Behind the Expansion

The expansion stems from Keysight Technologies' decision, following its acquisition of ESI Group, to partner with a dedicated specialist like XPI to fully handle SimulationX sales and support. Given SimulationX's versatility in multi-physics applications—from hydraulic brake systems to ship energy efficiency—customers benefit from a dedicated partner with in-depth knowledge of its intricacies. XPI's proven track record in North America made it a natural fit for Europe.

To bolster this growth, XPI has appointed João Paoliello as Head of Sales to manage commercial aspects in the region. We are planning further team expansions on both technical and commercial fronts. Additionally, our European team collaborates closely with sister company Agito AS, a SimulationX distributor for the oil and gas sector in Norway, enhancing project capacity and operational robustness.

The New Dresden Office and Team Integration

Located at Bautzner Str. 22 in Dresden, the office is strategically positioned to foster ongoing collaboration with Keysight's SimulationX development team, also based in the city. This proximity ensures seamless knowledge transfer and accelerated advancements in the software.

We are pleased to welcome three experienced professionals from the former ITI/ESI team, each with over a decade of expertise in SimulationX:

- Carsten Obenaus, Systems Design Engineer: Specializes in hydraulic and pneumatic simulations, including vehicle pneumatic brake systems, providing critical insights for safety-critical applications.

- Christoph Schramm, Systems Design Engineer: Focuses on mechanical simulations, covering 1D linear and rotational mechanics as well as multi-body systems (MBS), aiding in precise modeling of complex assemblies.

- Kevin Hofmann, Systems Design Engineer: Brings a fluid dynamics background with library development experience in areas like Ship Energy Systems and Belt Conveyors, supporting marine and material handling simulations.

These additions allow XPI to maintain expert-level support while executing high-expertise modeling and simulation projects.

Benefits for SimulationX Users

This integration ensures continued fast, robust technical support with improved responsiveness and product understanding. As XPI is solely dedicated to SimulationX, our sales team offers tailored advice, quick reactions to demands, and enhanced communication. We're committed to elevating the user experience through initiatives like flexible training schedules and comprehensive documentation for new features.

For engineers at companies using SimulationX, this means more efficient workflows—such as optimizing hydraulic brake systems for heavy machinery or improving energy simulations for marine applications—backed by a partner focused on your success.

Ties to Upcoming Events and Future Outlook

This expansion aligns perfectly with our upcoming Xcelerate25 workshop on October 22, 2025, in Böblingen, Germany. Organized by XPI and hosted by Keysight, the event will feature tutorials delivered by a mix of XPI and Keysight experts, including several from our Dresden office and colleagues from Canada. Attendees can expect hands-on demos of advanced SimulationX techniques, roadmap previews, and real-time model feedback at the "Ask the Experts" booth—directly benefiting from our strengthened team.

Looking ahead, the Dresden team will continue to grow, and we're evaluating modern support platforms to streamline technical assistance. In the meantime, we encourage you to follow the XPI LinkedIn page and join the SimulationX Users Group for updates on features, tips, and events.

If you're interested in SimulationX support, training, or collaborative projects, reach out to our team at any time. We're here to help you design smarter and simulate faster.
